Facebook releases stand alone mobile messenger for Android and iOS

fbmessenger 01 Facebook releases stand alone mobile messenger for Android and iOS

Facebook has been making some significant improvements lately to their page as well as the Android app, and have recently begun announcing their latest creation. Their new stand alone messenger will be compatible with Android and iOS, but no word yet on a BlackBerry version.

If you regularly use Facebook then you might have noticed the recent changes to their messaging system. To simplify things, Facebook has combined your regular messages with instant messages you receive while logged in — which now can be accessed from their new app. Something else worth noting is that people you text or IM don’t necessarily have to be your friends on Facebook, and even a contact in your phone’s address book will work.

With the help of mobile tracking, the new application also includes a group feature to share your location with all your selected friends(great for stalkers).  Hopefully this app gets better support than prior Facebook apps. Are you going to go grab it?

Here is the link to the market to download it.
