When most folks think of e-readers, Barnes & Noble and Amazon generally come to mind first. If you are looking for an alternative e-reader with souped-up storage, Kobo has announced their Kobo Arc 7″ tablet will be hitting store shelves in November. The device will be hitting store shelves with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options. Let’s take a look at what else is under the hood for the new tablet:

  • 1.5GHz OMAP 4470 dual-core processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 1.3MP HD front-facing camera
  • 7-inch IPS display with 1280×800 resolution (215 ppi)
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Wi-fi capabilities
  • Front-facing stereo speakers with SRS TruMedia

While Kobo is certainly not leading the e-reader market, the tablet does look to be a worthy contender. The company has already begun its development plans for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. The tablet may lack the great content that the Kindle Fire from Amazon has to offer, but does allow access to the Google Play Store. The Kobo Arc will be available for $199.99 (16GB), $249.99 (32GB) and $299.99 (64GB). Pre-orders will be available this fall in advance of its in-store availability this November.
