The Motorola DROID 4 is probably hands down the best Android phone on the market that still offers a slide-out keyboard. While the specs on this device aren’t the best, this phone will be more than enough for the average user:
- 4″ 540×960 LCD display
- 5-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard
- 1.2Ghz dual-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- LTE
- 8GB internal storage (expandable with microSD card)
- 8MP rear camera w/ 1080p HD video recording
- 1.3MP front camera
- 1785mAh battery
- Android 2.3.5
- Micro HDMI port
- Ships with Android 2.3.5
I have to honestly say I was a little bit disappointed to see the DROID 4 does not have the 3000+ mAh battery. I’m not sure why the better battery did not make it to this device, but it’s a must have on any LTE device. If it fit in the super slim DROID Maxx, there is no reason it wouldn’t work for this device.
Something else I found to be slightly disappointing was the fact that the DROID 4 lacks the latest version of Android. It has been 3 whole months since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was launched, but phone manufactures for some reason are not loading it on the latest devices. Come on guys, newest phones, newest OS. Goes hand and hand, right?
The phone does lack an HD display, but the qHD is still prety sharp on a 4″ phone. Overall, with it’s full QWERTY keyboard the latest DROID 4 looks to be a pretty solid phone.
Here’s Wirefly’s take on the whole device in this following 13 minutes video review:
