Why can’t all of our handheld devices be built this strong? Awhile back Sony’s Xperia Active proved to be one tough cookie(as seen in the video below), and they aren’t stopping there. Recently they have shared with us the rugged Go and Arco S – two devices which are expected to be available sometime Q3, around September this year.
The Go is reportedly smaller than the Arco S, and said to be more rugged of the two. The device gets an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, which is actually the highest rating a smartphone can have. Wet fingers? No problem with this phone as it’s thick mineral glass has you covered, as well as being scratch resistant. For the processor the Go sports a dual-core 1GHz processor and will be powered by Gingerbread but promises to receive the 4.0 update.
Sony’s Arco S while slightly less rugged, still handles dust and water well with an IP55 and IP57 rating. The device sports a 4.3″ 720p display with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. The Arco S will launch with Android 4.0, and like the Go will work well with wet fingers. Both devices look very nice and are slightly more attractive than other devices from Sony. Who wants one?
